The Bollin Group which includes Mountain Equipment, Sprayway, Bridgedale, Go Systems, Ron Hill, Hilly Clothing and Burton McCall, has acquired 1000 Mile Sportswear.

Former owner Jack Galaun is retiring while sales directors Nik Aveyard and Greg Soffe, and sales manager Warren Smith, will take up equivalent roles in the new set up.  Burton McCall, the distribution business owned by the Bollin Group, will act as distributor of both 1000 Mile and Ultimate Performance, relocating the operations to Leicester from 10th August.

The firm is a multichannel distributor of brands including Maglite torches, Victorinox Swiss army knives, Felco secateurs and Camelbak with retail distribution ranging from high street stores to independent shops, from garden centres to hardware chains, across the UK.

Commenting on the acquisition, Bollin Group CEO, Stephen Cann, said: “The Galaun family were looking to exit the business as part of their retirement plans and I believe our Group expertise will allow the brands to develop to the next stage.”

Greg Soffe, sales director at 1000 Mile, added: “It’s business as usual. This will facilitate an exciting future for the business and the brands will continue to operate independently, as do other Bollin Group brands, with separate sales, marketing, and product development teams. I am looking forward to continuing to develop the business.”
