Grangers readies move to newly-built HQ

Move will unify operations at one purpose built location

Grangers, has confirmed that work is complete and its new headquarters near Chesterfield, Derbyshire, will officially open in February 2019.

The keys to the new 43,000 square feet headquarters built by G F Tomlinson in partnership with Henry Boot Developments, have now been handed over. Occupying a 2.8 acre site, the new headquarters will bring all of the brand’s core functions under one roof including the firm’s manufacturing arm, distribution, finance, design, sales and marketing teams.

Karolina Jones, Grangers’ General Manager, said: “Grangers has undergone a remarkable journey of growth since the brand was founded, supporting the first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953, supplying the British Military and helping today’s polar explorers stay warm, safe and dry.”

The firm, which was founded and set up operations in Watford more than 80 years ago, first moved to Alfreton in Derbyshire in 1990.

Jones continued: “In the 28 years since Grangers moved to Alfreton, the brand has gone from strength to strength. The last 10 years in particular have been particularly successful both in the UK and abroad and we have seen 40% international year-on-year growth in volume for the second year running in 2018.

“Many exciting new retail partnerships have also been established in the last 12 months and this new custom-built headquarters will enable the business to capitalise on that growth and continue to drive innovation in technical apparel aftercare. At the same time it will further improve Grangers’ operational capability.”

Jones added: “This is an exciting time for Grangers which I am proud and delighted to be a part of, as the brand continues to be recognised for its innovative and environmentally-responsible aftercare products.

“Bringing all of our people in the brand’s core functions together in one location, the new headquarters will help the business to work even more effectively, researching and driving the development of new technologies which combat the very worst weather conditions around the world.”

In addition, renowned polar explorer and record-breaking long-distance skier, Ben Saunders, has been signed as Grangers’ first brand ambassador.
