OUTDOOR 2018: Gore launches Gore-Tex 3D Fit footwear tech
Terrex, Salomon and Adidas already using the technology
WL Gore has launched its new mesh-based Gore-Tex 3D fit footwear at the OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen.
“With GORE-TEX 3D fit footwear, consumers get a shoe that more effectively contours to the shape of their foot, and manufacturers get a technology that is easy to integrate into existing footwear designs,” said Silke Kemmerling, product specialist for the Gore Fabrics Division.
Shoes featuring the new technology are being manufactured and marketed by Gore brand partners adidas Terrex, Salomon with their custom made ME:sh shoe and Under Armour with its second generation HOVR Phantom shoe. Select brands will debut the technology in their shoes beginning in early 2019 both in-store and online.
The 3D fit footwear will enable manufacturers to have access to a waterproof breathable insert, offering comfort in a lightweight stretchy material that can be used in a variety of lighter-weight athletic and lifestyle shoes.
Simplification for Manufacturers – GORE-TEX 3D fit footwear simplifies the assembly process for manufacturers, with Gore assembling the three dimensional waterproof elastic footwear insert. As a result, this significantly simplifies the integration into the footwear – especially even in shoes that feature elastic, knitted uppers.
