Outdoor Friedrichshafen reaches out with new format

"We are completely rethinking the whole trade show idea"

The organiser of the Friedrichsafen Outdoor show has revealed more about the revised format for the show including a new camping caravan section.

The new concept offers complimentary catering for exhibitors and trade visitors during the two-and-and-a-half day event. Large and differently designed lounge islands inside the halls will provide the central meeting point for networking, eating and drinking. The show will have a circuit arrangement in the eastern section of the exhibition grounds, occupying four halls (A6, A7, B4, B5), the Foyer and Open-Air Grounds as well as the Conference Centre.

“The completely new concept, with dedicated offers, full flexibility, committed efficiency, plus genuine and authentic themes and a fitting atmosphere, is being welcomed by many industry players,” said CEO of Messe Friedrichshafen Klaus Wellmann.

Head of Outdoor Stefan Reisinger explained: “We are completely rethinking the whole trade show idea from scratch. We firmly believe in bricks-and-mortar retail and are offering a down-to-earth platform for all companies who embody the outdoor spirit. We are now the underdog and understand that a new start takes time and requires intensive consultation. We are optimistic about the facts: brands are seeing that a successful trade show presence is possible with a modest budget and only minimal advance planning and that regional commercial representation can benefit instead of international management. Manufacturers are looking at how they can benefit from the new outdoor show format.

In addition to classic outdoors sports, the show has also reached out to the caravan and camping sector, introducing a new exhibition area, where outdoor and leisure retailers will encounter a comprehensive product spectrum that spans from camping buses and motorhomes to the latest trends in mobile camping accessories.

The 14th edition of the OUTDOOR Industry Award sees two additional categories this year – the Retail-Award and the Agency-Award.

“Who is offering the best shopping experience or who has the most sustainable campaign? Our expert panel will be evaluating all entries to decide on the winners in six categories to receive the highly-coveted award label. Companies wishing to enter their latest outdoor innovations can submit their application from 29 April to 25 July 2019. Exhibitors and start-ups benefit from reduced registration fees and there are fair rates for all other interested parties,” explained Dirk Heidrich, Show Director Outdoor Friedrichshafen.
