Vango extends DofE kit deal

Vango has secured a new licence with The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as a DofE Recommended Expedition Kit partner for an extended five-year period.

The DofE has partnered with Vango for over a decade to provide participants with recommendations of practical equipment to prepare and complete their expeditions, and help them gain new outdoors and life skills. The recent contract extension commences in January 2021.

Vango’s official recommended kit includes an array of expedition tents, sleeping bags and mats, rucksacks, and stoves all of which are firm favourites with explorers and adventure seekers worldwide. The deal also includes Trangia, a brand long distributed by AMG Group (Vango’s parent company) for the UK.

Rob Birrell, Vango Marketing Director, said: “We’re delighted to be continuing our longstanding relationship with the DofE as an official Recommended Kit partner. By doing so, we hope to encourage more young people to get outdoors, learn vital skills and make memories that will last a lifetime. We would encourage anyone thinking of taking on the challenge to go for it – the experience will provide a true sense of adventure, which is what we stand for at Vango.”

For every item purchased, Vango contributes to the DofE charity to help enable support young people aged 14-24 years old to undertake their DofE, achieving a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Peter Schooling, Commercial Director for the DofE, added: “Our relationship with Vango over the last 10 years has provided us with a brand partner who not only provides much needed income to the charity, but also mirrors our vision to encourage young people to enhance their skills and experience new adventures, and for that reason we’re delighted to be continuing our partnership.”
